FAQ

        What is bamboo?

Bamboo is basically a grass, which grows rapidly and naturally with little water and without pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers;

Why growing bamboo is good?

Bamboo improves soil quality and helps rebuild eroded soil. Bamboo plantations are large “photosynthesis factories” which reduce greenhouse gases, as emit 35% more oxygen than the equivalent stand of trees.

Is the process of making bamboo fabric sustainable?

Bamboo fiber is a kind of regenerated cellulose fiber, which is produced from raw materials of bamboo pulp. Bamboo pulp is refined from bamboo through a process of hydrolysis-alkalization, followed by transformation into bamboo fiber. The process of making bamboo fiber uses fewer chemicals that harm the environment. Bamboo fiber spins into fabrics. Due to the fact that the bamboo plant goes through a complex manufacturing process, the fabric is offically named as viscose, or rayon.

We prefer the blend of bamboo with organic cotton, for addend strength and durability. Bamboo clothing is 100% biodegradable.

What is Oeko-Tex Standard?

100 Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is an international testing and certification system for textiles, limiting the use of certain chemicals.

The Oeko-Tex label is a recognized benchmark for the consumer and also serves as an additional quality assurance tool for the manufacturer. The concept has become established as a safety standard throughout the textile manufacturing chain and enables checks to be made for any harmful substances at each stage in the production process. The test samples are tested by the independent Oeko-Tex institutes for:

- pH-value,

- formaldehyde content,

- the presence of pesticides,

- extractable heavy metals,

- chlorinated organic carriers and preservatives such

  as pentachlorophenol and tetrachlorophenol.

- MAC amines in azo dyestuffs and allergy-inducing dyestuffs.

- flame retardant

- biocidic

If all components of a textile comply with the requirements of the Oeko-Tex criteria catalogue without exception, the manufacturer receives certification and is entitled to use the Oeko-Tex label to mark the products in the shops.

What is Kinderel’s focus?

Kinderel’s focus is baby’s safety and well being. Either by offering yardage of quality fabric, or by baby products, modeled through carefully thought-out design. Our line covers layette and baby basic clothing.  The must-have item is the sleep sack.

Why should I use a sleep sack?

Because it is much more safe. According to specialists, these bags may reduce the risk of SIDS, due to loose blankets in the crib. Safety Canada recommends:

"To reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), healthy babies
should be placed on their back to sleep. Soft mattresses, pillows, comforters, bumper pads and stuffed toys should be avoided. Babies’ environment should be kept smoke-free. If a room temperature is comfortable for adults, it is also comfortable for a baby. Babies should be dressed and covered in a manner to avoid overheating, even during an illness"

How does a sleeping bag work?

You simply un-zip the bag and place the baby in. Kinderel is constructed with a two-way zipper that discourages little hands from unzipping the bag & allows for effortless diaper changes that don’t require undressing the baby.

What size should I buy for my baby?

Please see the sizing table. You should wait until the baby is at least 3.5 kg, the average sizing for the 0-6 months size. Correct sizing is paramount to the comfort and safety of your baby, and we want you feel 100% assured that you've made the right choice.

How do I dress my baby when they are in a baby sleep sack?
The regular nursery temperature should be around 20C. If you are not able to keep your nursery at this temperature, then we suggest putting your child to bed in whatever is appropriate for the season: lightweight pajamas for warm weather, and warm sleepers for cooler temperatures. If the nursery temperature rises above the optimal level, simply remove a layer of clothing. Be sure to not overheat your baby (please refer to our safety checklist to read the dangers of overheating).

If the nursery temperature is cooler or the baby feels cold, then simply add a layer of clothing. Please remember that babies have immature circulatory systems, so cool fingers or toes are not a good way to gauge body temperature. A quick way to check if your child is comfortable is to place your hand underneath their clothing on their stomach or back. If they feel sweaty, remove a layer of clothing. If they feel cold, add a body-suit or a t-shirt.
DO NOT PUT A BLANKET ON TOP OF THE SLEEPING BAG!

Guideline for what to wear under the sleep sack:

20°C – short-sleeve bodysuit and PJ

22°C – long-sleeve PJ

24°C – short-sleeve bodysuit

These are recommendations only as all babies are different. You have to adjust the clothing according to the baby’s needs.

How many Kinderel's dreaming bags do I need?

We always recommend having two sleep sacks. Babies can have little diaper “accidents” and it’s always handy to have a spare while the other is being laundered.
